Scotstoun Badminton Club is committed to safeguarding and promoting the well being of all its young players. The club believes that it is important that members, coaches, committee members and parents associated with the club should, at all times, show respect and be encouraged to be open in sharing any concerns or complaints they may have about any aspect of the club.
As a young player of the club you are expected to meet these guidelines:
- All young players must play within the laws of the game and respect all officials and their decisions.
- In games, be serious, competitive, pleasant and well-mannered. There will always be stronger and weaker players than you. Treat them both with respect.
- All young players should wear appropriate badminton sports clothing for club sessions and competitions.
- All young players must pay any fees for training and events promptly or by the due date.
- All young players must note the age range within the club, from 8-17 and moderate their language and discussions appropriately.
- All young players should keep to agreed times for sessions and competitions, and inform the appropriate person if they are going to be late.
- If having been selected for a competition, match or event and a young player is required to withdraw, they must inform the appropriate person immediately.
- If you remember one thing – with very few exceptions everyone you come across in Badminton, at the club. at competitions or events is a volunteer – trying to help you get the most out of the sport.
Scotstoun Badminton Club relies on the support of our parents. Our committee is almost exclusively made up of parents. We need your help to run the club and we do our best to make you feel welcome. Like all business and organisations, from May 2018 sports clubs now have to comply with the “General Data Protection Regulations”. Email in-boxes across the country have been receiving a lot of mail on the subject.
At Scotstoun Badminton Club, your trust is very important to us – we try our best to be a safe place to play.
So we’ve prepared data protection policy to explain how we collect, store and handle your personal data. This is based on the template supplied by Badminton Scotland.
We want to give your child the best possible experience at the club, so we hold data (from membership form) to be able to be able to handle medical incidents; to communicate with parents (sometimes older players) and to help develop their badminton.
The club treats personal data with the utmost care and takes appropriate steps to protect it.
At present we only share limited data with two third parties to help us provide a better service for you. These are Mailchimp and Badminton Scotland.
Everyone now has rights regarding their personal data, including seeing what data we use and updating your information.
You can review the Data Privacy Policy and the club will be happy to answer any questions.
Our club has been constituted since 2012 when the first version of the policy was agreed.
In 2018, some cosmetic updates were made to bring it in line with the latest Badminton Scotland template and update some of the language.
The latest version is available here: Constitution and Equality Policy.
In the unlikely event of an injury or other problem on a Friday night we will contact you using the numbers and emergency contacts on the membership form. If they change please let us know.
Badminton is a relatively injury free sport but from time to time we have to deal with slips, trips, falls, collisions and bumps caused by rackets. To date we haven’t had any injury that needed more than a rest and TLC.
However the club has trained first-aiders and there is normally at least one other adult around the hall in addition to the coaches. Scotstoun Leisure Centre itself has good cover, they always have a trained first-aider on shift and a defibrillator is available.
