About us

Scotstoun Badminton Club meets on Fridays in the National Badminton Academy within Scotstoun Sports Campus in Glasgow.

Our main club meets from 7pm – 9pm for 12-17yrs.
Our early club meets from 5pm – 7pm for 10-12yrs.
Our Minis meets from 5pm – 7pm for 6-9yrs.

The club has 81 members between the ages of 6 and 17 – the average age is 13 with a handful of younger and older members. 38% of our club members are female.

There is an annual membership fee, currently, £15 and each club night costs £4 – £6 depending on the session attended.

The club started in 2008 and it’s accredited by Glasgow Life Clubmark “Get Active” and Badminton Scotland Shuttlemark Silver which means it’s officially a “well-run club and a good place to send your children to play sport”. We were pleased to be Glasgow Club of the Year in 2012, the first and only badminton club to win this award. We were even more pleased to win the Clubmark Club of the Year in 2016. We are supported by Glasgow Life Badminton development and affiliated with Badminton Scotland – this gives the players interested the chance to try competitive badminton.

If you are interested in learning to play badminton or learning more than your school or family can show you, Scotstoun Badminton Club is a good place to be. We have experienced young coaches, many current or former Scottish internationals, who have come through Glasgow School of Sport.

Seventeen of our members train within the performance pathway, thirty-two compete in ranking competitions at various ages and we have many former members developing as talented badminton players – we are well-connected within the sport and our coaches will help develop players.

We try our best to be a fun and welcoming club, able to develop players no matter how much or how little prior badminton experience they have. You are welcome to come and try the club. although we sometimes have a waiting list so please contact us first. Wear sports clothes and suitable shoes, bring water and a racket if you have one. We can usually loan rackets and failing that you can hire them from the leisure centre.

Like all clubs, we are always on the lookout for volunteer coaches and willing committee members.
