The club’s annual membership fee has remained unchanged for over a decade at £15, even though it was originally the cost of a tube of shuttles, which now costs £22. Even with a 19% increase in club costs, the fee for the upcoming year 2025-26 remains fixed at £15.
Badminton Scotland, our governing body, requires an annual membership fee of £15 for junior players. However, there is a £5 discount for first-time members. Just like other sports, this fee is crucial in supporting the work that Badminton Scotland does. Players must join Badminton Scotland, but if you are already a member through another club, Glasgow School of Sport, the regional performance squad or as an individual, please don’t pay twice.
To enter any competition that allows entry via tournament software, players have to be members of Badminton Scotland.
So the total membership is £30 (£25 for new members). However, if you are already a member of Badminton Scotland (the club can check) in which case membership is £15.
To be clear on membership, Club membership is £15 this helps fund the club. Badminton Scotland membership is £10 for a new member or £15 for an existing member. That funds Badminton Scotland not the club.
To ensure alignment with Badminton Scotland, our membership year runs from August 1st to July 31st. Members who pay the membership fee can participate in competitions throughout Scotland, have insurance coverage, and contribute to the club and Badminton Scotland’s work.
However, the most important thing is that the membership form supplies the club with contact details and emergency information. New members are allowed a few weeks to try out the club before joining.
For 2025-26 our session fees remain unchanged as follows:
£4 for the late session (Badminton Academy, 7-9pm)
£5 for the early session (Sports Centre, 5-7pm) – No membership required
£6 for the Minis (Badminton Academy, 5-7pm) – No membership required
We believe that our two-hour session is great value compared to other activities for children. The fee for the session just about covers the cost of the courts and coaches. Our club is non-profit, and the cost to parents reflects the club’s expenses. Any extra funds are used to support club activities. All volunteers at the club work for free, but coaches are reimbursed for their expenses.

Once completed, please return this form to the club either in person or by email to contact@scotstoun-badminton.co.uk with a membership fee of £30/£25/£15 pounds preferably via bank transfer to the club account.
When membership is logged, you’ll receive a welcome email as a receipt. The club will register all members with Badminton Scotland using your email address, and you can access their membership system to review and update the information stored there.
Finally, club members get priority if sessions are full and also receive a £1.50 discount on junior league entries and a £2 discount on club friendlies.
